Dance students impressed the crowd with a range of dazzling performances
Hundreds of students from 35 primary and secondary Catholic schools from across the Diocese showcased their creative talents in a series of music, dance and strings performances throughout June, culminating in the "Best Of" performance on 23 June.
The showcase events demonstrated the high calibre of choral, music and dance work from Catholic schools, under the Parramatta Diocese's creative and performing arts initiative, CAPTIVATE.
The program provides learning and performance experiences for students, as well as builds expertise and a sense of community across the system. CAPTIVATE is very popular with five new schools joining the program since last year.

We give thanks to God for the boundless love of Jesus, and pray that we may be show love, compassion and dignity to others as he did. In Term 2, our Faith in Action initiative is focused on supporting Mercy Works, and living out our OLOR Foundation Values of Dignity and Compassion. We're excited to share with you the news of our Mercy Market on Thursday 26 June, led by our Year 5 students, which will raise funds for Mercy Works. Take a look at the video. Term 2 is often a time for excursions, and our biggest excursion each year is Year 6's trip to Canberra! Last month, Year 6 put their learning about democracy and government into actiion, visiting Parliament House, the Electoral Education Centre and the Australian War Memorial. They also explored our nation's culture and heritage and history at the Australian Institute of Sport, the National Portrait Gallery, and of course, everyone's favourite Canberra excursion destination - Questacon! Thank you to our Year 6 students for the positive way they represented OLOR, and to our amazing teachers who worked well outside normal work hours to make the excursion happen - Mrs Luland, Mrs Miller, Mrs Prince, Mrs Noonan and Mr Battikha. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing $30 per student to our school under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

There was much to celebrate at our assembly on Friday afternoon. We presented our Principal's Awards, and members of FIAT (our Faith in Action Team) spoke to us about our OLOR Founding Values of Hospitality and Service. We also had the opportunity to present our age champions and runners up from our Athletics Carnival last Tuesday. Congratulations everyone!
