They're not running for Australia yet, but Zachery, Jacob and Anna did an amazing job representing OLOR and Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese at the Catholic Schools NSW Cross Country Championships last week. Well done for your amazing efforts. We're very proud of your achievements.

We certainly didn't let a bit of rain stop the fun, or the fundraising, at our Mercy Market on Friday. Our Year 5 students did an amazing job preparing and running stalls for the rest of the school, helping us all put our faith into action by raising money for Mercy Works. While there was lots of fun to be had, it was all done in love and service for those in need. Parents, if you're still wanting to make a payment to support Mercy Works, today's the last day to do so in the Qkr app. Well done to our Year 5 students, and thank you to everyone for your support. Special thanks to Miss Takchi, Mrs Rodrigues and the Year 5 teachers, as well as our office staff for their assistance.

Today, our Beginner Band joined bands from other schools across Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese to take part in the CAPTIVATE Primary Band Learning Exhibition. Each band performed two songs for everyone, then in the afternoon, all the students formed one, 200+ piece band to practice and perform a song together. Well done to our band, to everyone who took part, and to Mr Barden, Mrs Milas, and Miss Anna (their band teacher) for their support on the day. It was lots of fun and our band performed well and positively represented OLOR.

You probably already know about our award-winning veggie garden, but did you know that all the food we produce goes to good use? Mrs Harvey has been busy working with some of our Year 6 students, and today they produced some yummy food with our garden produce. Students can also buy tickets in the Gardening Club raffle and win produce to take home and make something tasty with their family.

With the World Cup underway, we want to show our support for the Socceroos. As such, everyone is invited to wear green and gold on Friday 26 June, when Australia plays Paraguay. Please remember that shoes that are appropriate for safe play, as well as a hat, still need to be worn. With a win already on the board, let's hope Australia can continue that success and make it past the group stage.

Congratulations to our debating team who represented OLOR in Round 2 of the Year 6 Debating Competition. Debating as the negative team on the topic, "Children should learn a second language," our students delivered a confident and well-prepared case. Their success was built on strong arguments, clear definitions, and solid rebuttals that effectively challenged the opposition's points. The team demonstrated excellent teamwork, critical thinking, and public speaking skills throughout the debate. Their ability to listen carefully, think quickly, and respond persuasively impressed both the audience and adjudicator. We are proud to share that our team was awarded the debate. Congratulations to our team on their outstanding effort and achievement, and thank you Mrs Luland for your support. We look forward to following our teams' debating journey throughout the remainder of the competition!
