Happy Feast Day of Our Lady of the Rosary! With the feast day falling during the school holidays, we took the opportunity to celebrate on the last day of term. After a Marian Gallery Walk of artworks we created earlier in the week, we gathered as a school community to celebrate Mass. After Mass, we enjoyed a sweet treat and an afternoon of games in a carnival-like atmosphere. OLOR Day was the culmination of a "Feast Week" of celebrations, including an art competition, creative writing, wellbeing and sport activities. Our Lady of the Rosary, Pray for Us.

Congratulations to last week's Principal's Award recipients. We also had the opportunity at assembly to listen to the Beginner Band perform. It was great to see (and hear) the progress that they have made over the course of the year - well done!

Last month, our Concert Band joined bands from a number of schools across the Diocese at the Primary Band Exhibition. The exhibition was organised by Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese's Creative Arts unit, CAPTIVATE. The band had the opportunity to peform an item, receive feedback, and listen to the other bands. The day wrapped up with the opportunity for all the bands to create one large band and perform a combined item. We thank CAPTIVATE for their support of the band exhibition and for the opportunity to participate. We also thank our band teachers, as well as Miss Pennisi and Mrs Macpherson for supporting our band on the day.

This week is National Child Protection Week. This year’s theme, ‘Every conversation matters: Shifting Conversation to Action,’ reminds us that while dialogue is essential when it comes to raising awareness, challenging harmful norms, and sparking new ideas, real change is only possible when we turn those conversations into meaningful action. As part of Child Protection Week, Year 5 and 6 joined in a live interactive webinar hosted by the National eSafety Commissioner called: "Be an eSafe kid: Use your safety skills for protection online." They had the opportunity to discover how to protect themselves online with practical tools such as managing strong passphrases, privacy settings and personal information.

Since 2005, the Rotary Club of The Hills-Kellyville has been running an annual Writing Competition to encourage writing skills among Year 6 students in the Hills District. Students were asked to compose a handwritten piece of up to 500 words in the form of a narrative. This year’s topic focused on the power of friendship. Kaylee, Flynn and Cara were selected as our school finalists. Last week we celebrated their achievements at the Presentation Dinner held at Castle Hill RSL. It was a wonderful night acknowledging the efforts of young writers from across the district. Congratulations on our finalists for their efforts, and to the Year 6 teachers for their support of the children and the writing competition.
